Décollage pour l'espace!

Lift-off!
Our Space event in Limoges was a huge success. We hoped to meet a few local cachers but didn't expect so many attendees. A great evening was had by all.
Geocaching Limousin 2013
We met at the bowling club near Limoges. The evening kicked off at 18.00 after we had sneakily hidden a new cache nearby especially for this event (GC4QQ2J). We had a natter with local geocachers - some we had met before and a lot were new faces. The group photo was taken at around 20.00 by MACH87. Then we dished out the papers for John's space quiz which would lead to the discovery of coordinates for the new cache. Little by little the contestants returned the correct answers and went in search of the cache. The winner was Baldix who was awarded a space shuttle trackable (TB5Q3QM) for FTF. After a brief 'apertif' in the car park (it was a bit nippy) some had to leave and the rest of us retired to the restaurant for a superb evening meal. We hope to do it all again soon!

Changes

It's been a long time since I last posted here (over a year) and a lot has happened during that time. Some changes for us (jobs, schools, outlooks) but we have still been very busy Gecaching here in France. We've gone from 2000 finds to 3000 and beyond. It's not about the numbers for us but we really do like to get out there and look for quality caches so, little by little, we naturally "rack them up". Our latest find as I write this is "La Pierre des Sages" by Terra-aventura. Not an official Geocache on the site but a cache by the local tourist board which has been much fun for the scouts (and scoutette) all the same.

We've been working our way around France from our base in the Haute-Vienne and trying to visit as many departments as possible. We took a trip to Euro-Disney last summer and went on to find the oldest cache in Europe, in Belgium for a milestone. We also went back to England earlier this year to do a few virtuals and we got out furthest west find at Land's End. We've been to three Mega events to date and a host of other great events this year. A huge thanks to the organisers of those.

So what now? Well next year we hope to return to Italy which we (John and I) visited in 2004 and do some exciting caches there. We'd also like to put Portugal on the map and maybe a few other countries. In the mean time we hope to find a few more near here in order to get our annual New Year's Day Milestone at around the 4000 mark. Let's see what happens.
